March ~ OrganicWeed Killer
A super easy weed killer that you can make from ingredients found in the kitchen.. This weed spray uses pure vinegar. The acetic acid in the. vinegar draws the moisture out of the leaves, killing the top growth. This will work best on young and small weeds. The dish soap helps keep the spray on the leaves, rather than it beading off, and. letting it penetrate into the leaf. Salt can be added to strengthen the vinegar and help kill weeds that pure vinegar can’t. But this is optional. I’ve found pure vinegar with a few drops of soap only to work just as well. For best results, spray on a sunny, windless day. The sun definitely helps speed up the process. This mix can also kill or damage your plants so be sure not to get the vinegar on to your beloveds. This method also takes a bit of time and patience and repeat applications but it’s a lot easier on your back in the long run.
For a REALLY easy way to mix this, purchase a bottle of Allens Cleaning Vinegar (blue label) from the grocery store which comes in its own spray bottle. Add a few drops of dishsoap (3-4 drops) and a couple teaspoons of salt. Easy!!
Any vinegar works but the stronger the better.
Spray bottles can be found at the dollar store or the nurseries. Just fill them up with vinegar, add the dishsoap and salt and off you go!
